These were scrummy. So much so that I didn't bake anything else after making them, just finished off the whole lot myself!

This was easy and delicious. I grated some older bread for the bread crumbs. I'm going to make this again and will use blue cheese. (and cook the cauli for a wee bit longer!)

I nearly didn't buy the beer cause of the name - Oban folk get annoyed when people call it the Folly (though from a architectural POV that's probably accurate) as it tends to be said with an attitude that it was a misguided enterprise that failed (it was never finished). However the building works provided employment for locals when there was little else so Tower is preferred.

This suffered from the lack of brownie pan I think - it ended up a loaf and was a bit dry. Still tasty, but not as moist as it might have been.

This was better than I thought it was going to be as it finished cooking. The pancetta helped. Also, my mustard powder is so old I suspect it might as well have been dust!

Oh my god this was good. Very simple too. I think it was the sweet potato (with the mustard) that really made it fab.

This courgette bread was fairly easy to make though the lack of cups I think led me to make it too moist. I don't think I'll make it again though, it was on the border between sweet and savoury and I think I'd prefer either or.

I did lots of cooking (and a bit less baking - it's not easy baking for one and even I had difficulty getting through 2 loafs, a batch of rolls, a cake, brownies and a tray bake!) last week.

The kitchen at the cottage was fairly well stocked though lacked baking stuff including scales and baking tins. Luckily I took scales and a loaf tin with me. Less sensibly I forgot to check and several recipes used cups which I did not have and I had no internet to get conversions from. So I guessed and it kind of worked I think!

I don't have pictures of the pancakes I had for breakfast most days - some oatmeal ones which were lovely with banana and maple syrup and some gorgeous ricotta-honey-blueberry ones (my ones came out a bit less perfect looking than hers, still gorgeous though. My other breakfasts involved using up some of the rolls with pork sausages from Mull.

And that's the holiday over. Was a lovely day - one of those Highland days when there is a slight grey haze and everything should be dull (and looks dull in photos, sadly) but looks more like a soft filter over everything. And the sun always felt like it was about to burst out of the clouds.

Got the car back today all fixed. Was still a bit wet and miserable. Also foggy earlier in the day - I'm glad that the foghorn is only decorative now!

Was dull and raining today so had a lazy lazy day - stayed in bed, read lots of books, ate mainly leftovers/reheated food. Was luxurious.

Disaster! Headed merrily off to Lochaline today (mainly to visit Inniemore abandoned village) but the car died (clutch knackered). On a hill, in the middle of nowhere, with no phone reception! Two bikers helped me turn the car and I freewheeled down the hill and luckily regained a signal. The RAC (once they had figured out where the hell I was!) were very helpful and the tow truck from Loch Shiel garage at Acharacle was there in about 90 mins.

Getting a hire car also very easy "do you need transport? here, have a Ford Focus, sign the form"

So off I went. Back to the cottage though, no Inniemore for me on this trip.
